Designing Collaboration: Paul Goldberger in conversation with architects Gary McCluskie, & Billie Tsien

May 16, 2023

Architecture critic Paul Goldberger moderated a dialogue with Gary McCluskie of Diamond Schmitt Architects Toronto | New York and Billie Tsien of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects | Partners | New York as they discussed the role collaboration played in re-imagining David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.

Gary and Billie delved into how connectivity and collaboration were not only key to the dynamics of the project team, but how they informed the architecture and the creation of unique spaces for artists, patrons, and the greater public. Their design of the new David Geffen Hall redefines the performing arts institution through an inclusive architecture—one that fuels social empowerment and engagement, and enriches communities beyond its four walls.
